Collection Draw 5 mL in gold top tube. Centrifuge, separate, and freeze acute serum. Submit paired sera at the same time using two separate requisitions. Carefully note the date of collection on the request form.
Use CF titers 1:64 are suggestive of recent or current infection. Single titers of 1:8-1:32 can be indicative of recent infection since antibody levels persist for only a few weeks or months and thus may warrant further testing. A fourfold or greater change in CF titer between acute and convalescent specimens is considered confirmatory evidence of recent or current infection. Titers <1:8 are considered negative although, if acute, specimens should be followed by convalescent specimens.
