Reference Range <15 years: 8-52 units/L; 15 years: 0-90 units/L
Use Angiotensin converting enzyme is increased in some cases of active sarcoidosis. Sensitivity approximately 75%, specificity approximately 95%. The sensitivity increases with the stage of the disease. Serial ACE determinations may be helpful in following the clinical course of sarcoidosis. ACE is not usually elevated in other lung diseases.
